Kellington Primary School announces launch of 30 hrs free childcare provision

27 Jun 23

The nursery at Goole-based Kellington Primary is undergoing a makeover ahead of an influx of new pupils, as the school prepares itself for the next academic year and the launch of its 30 hours of funded childcare provision for eligible families.

Boasting décor which creates a calmer, relationship driven setting using natural materials that enable self-direction and experimental learning, the school’s executive headteacher says the new nursery space provides an ‘ideal environment’ for children to start their school journey.

The changes coincide with the announcement that Kellington Primary will also be offering 30 hours of funded childcare for nursery aged children at the start of the 2023/23 academic year, following feedback from families currently using the school and from parents attending the local toddler group.

The sessions for the 30-hour provision will run Monday to Thursday 8:45am – 3:15pm, Friday 8:45am – 11:45 am, with additional Friday afternoon sessions available for £16.80. Children may bring packed lunches or purchase a nutritious school lunch.

Additional sessions are also available to families that are not eligible for free funding.

The school’s executive headteacher, Melanie Lawrence, said: “We are very excited about the nursery makeover, and we can’t wait to welcome all the new children into the space in September.

“These early years are a vital part of a child’s education, and we wanted to create an environment where everyone can thrive. Likewise, by offering the funded 30-hour provision to local families we hope to be able to give the pre-schoolers the best start to their school journey.”
