Kellington Primary School bolsters school offering with launch of breakfast club

Goole-based Kellington primary school has responded to the needs of parents and carers with the launch of a dedicated breakfast club – offering additional childcare for local families before the start of school and providing the children with access to a range of activities to kickstart the day.

All of the children who attend the morning sessions are provided with a nutritious breakfast, and while some pupils use the time to do homework tasks, others take part in various activities including arts and crafts, board games, and even more physical activities.

The club, which costs £2:50 including food, is being run by members of staff, and is available from 8am to 8:45am during term-time, Monday to Friday.

The school’s executive headteacher, Melanie Lawrence, said: “We regularly engage with our families to understand what they need from us as a school, and we know from that feedback that our new breakfast club will help parents and carers, many of whom need access to additional childcare for work and other commitments.

“We also hope the new sessions will make the school attractive to new families considering Kellington as an option for their children.”

Kellington Primary is a member of the Star Multi Academy Trust, a group of eleven schools across North Yorkshire working together to provide the best education support to their local communities.
