Brayton Church of England Primary School Celebrates 'Good' Ofsted Rating

The staff, children, parents, and carers at a Selby area primary school are celebrating after it was rated ‘Good’ across all areas by Ofsted following a recent inspection.

Brayton Church of England Primary School, part of The Star Multi-Academy Trust, welcomed inspectors in April who acknowledged the ‘family’ feel of the school, where pupils feel ‘happy and safe’.

The report, which has now been published, highlights the school’s ambitious curriculum for all children, including for pupils with special education needs and/or disabilities (SEND), and those in early years.

Inspectors also found that pupils are are proud of their school, attend well, and come to school enthusiastic to learn, and that respectful relationships between pupils and staff are a real strength of the school with its Christian ethos helping pupils to develop both spiritually and morally.

Further recognition was given to the staff’s ability to ensure that all students – including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) – have a broad range of experiences to develop their character, providing a strong foundation for their future education.

Welcoming the report, Brayton Church of England Primary School’s headteacher, Allyson Buckton, said: “All of the staff at Brayton have worked tirelessly to create a learning environment where every child can thrive, not only with their academic work but also through wider initiatives that prepare them for life outside of school.

“We are delighted that Ofsted has recognised these efforts, and we are very proud to have achieved a Good rating across all areas including early years provision, personal development, and the behaviour and attitudes of the pupils.

“This acknowledges the significant improvement that has been made in all areas of our school and we are looking forward to further embedding these values and improvements in the months to come.”

Brayton Church of England Primary School is committed to providing a high-quality education within a caring and inclusive environment. As part of The Star Multi-Academy Trust, the school benefits from strong leadership and support, ensuring that every pupil has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and personally.
