Tadcaster school encourages every pupil to ‘let their light shine’

Kirk Fenton C of E primary school sustains their ‘Good’ Ofsted reputation

Tadcaster-based C of E primary school, Kirk Fenton, has received recognition from Ofsted for their purposeful and positive environment and everyday acts of kindness between pupils.

Kirk Fenton C of E primary school, forming part of the Star Multi-Academy Trust, underwent Ofsted inspection in early November 2022 and has successfully maintained its overall effectiveness rating of ‘good’ rating, which was first awarded in 2015.

Karen Williams, the school’s Headteacher, has said she is ‘thrilled’ with the inspection outcome, especially with key positives recognised in classroom learning and pupil behaviour by the governing board.

“We are delighted that the Ofsted team recognised our pupils getting a strong start to their education in their early years. Pupils are quickly introduced to routines which develop their independence from an early age, conducted through our skilful staff and carefully planned activities throughout learning objectives.

“We are also pleased that Ofsted identified our extracurricular activities offered to our pupils for broader development. From eco council to play leaders, we aim to provide leadership opportunities throughout learning.

“This observation demonstrates our alignment with the multi-academy trusts values and visions in nurturing well-rounded and understanding future members of society.

“The report also touched upon our commitment to special education needs and/or disabilities (SEND) pupils. Our staff are firm believers that pupils with SEND should access the same curriculum as their peers without learning being ‘watered down’ and instead catered carefully to support and help SEND pupils to succeed.

“I would like to thank and congratulate our staff, parents/carers and pupils for working hard as always to produce such great results. I am extremely proud to be involved in such a fantastic school and community.”
